I bought this Peace dollar from an elderly woman who showed no care for coins. As I sorted through the ones I wanted to buy, I noticed her persistently trying to scratch the toning in hopes of making the coin more presentable to me. All I could do was cringe, fortunately no great damage was done.
Is this beneficial to the coins overall price?

The obverse is the same deep purple as the out halo on the reverse. Sorry this picture doesn't do the obverse justice.

I see some slight wear on the hair, I think this coin would grade AU-58.
