All the U.S. coins from 1965-1967 have no mintmarks. This was done to reduce collecting coins. The end of the higher silver content coins ended in 1964. Thus the halves from 1965-1970-D are 40% silver coins. They do have melt value. Thus all the silver coins are pulled from circulation.

The mark near the mouth area is a contact mark from another coin that alter the surface on that area. I see no hub doubling on your coin. What you are seeing on the obverse is a die scratch, not a die crack. (both are just worth the same, they are common die events. Reverse looks normal from what I can see. But it is a silver melt coin.

I can't seriously believe that. A literal hole on the shield of the coin and it nothing? No explanation? Just damage? No points of reference? bless all the hatets

How do you want me to respond. I didn't do the damage, so I have no idea how it happened. You're going to get a damage response 95% of the time, because that's what it is. Not every coin you find is going to be an error or variety. People new to the hobby think everything they see on a coin "has" to be a million dollar find. If that was true, all of us would be rich. You're not going to get rich finding errors or variety. You need to understand what can and can't happen before and during the strike of a coin. That comes with learning the process and experience. Alot of times you have to look through hundreds of coins before you find something interesting.

You has a circulated, re-polish JFK 67. Coop was right on the Observe. The reverse hole is after mint done, by the form seem to be an clue tip. The only doubling I find in 1967 was on SMS at the level of the Digits 9 and 6.
