Hello all, one of my coworkers got me into looking more closely at my coins recently. It's actually a fairly fascinating activity. I found this quarter this morning, can anyone tell me anything about it? My coworker said it looks like a die break but due to the condition of the coin it's probably not worth much.

Looks like a coin that was over heated to me:

Heat bubble. Post strike damage to the coin.

Thank you very much. I saw a couple of the heat damaged coins and I thought it looked similar but was completely on the fence.

That design had a really very late die state for that design:

Yes. So if one is showing that much die wear, there are many more out there. Die wear is progressive.

As said, this one is heat damage, but glad to hear you're liking the hobby! Keep at it and you'll find some good stuff. Posting and reading on this forum is a great way to learn (how I learned and continue to learn about error and variety coins).

Excellent image of the one with extreme die wear Coop. It looks like there may be some similarities between the Op's coin and the reverse image you shared at K12:30 to K1.

Any chance you have an image of the obverse of that one as well?
