Bought this back in December 2020. I love this coin as a type coin!

What grade would you give it?

Pics are hard to read, I'd just be guessing. I'll pass on this one.

Images are not good enough to grade.

i think the images are good enough to grade the coin, however, its very difficult under all that toning/crust to assess the surfaces. one thing that stands out to me is that this coin should have been conserved. hopefully it will not continue to degrade. the last photo of the obv shows quite a but of what looks like PVC damage.

if the coin looked like this when it was slabbed i'd say MS62 otherwise the slab grade may be MS63

The cliche "it looks better in person" certainly applies here. The luster is beautiful beneath the chromatic toning.

Panzaldi, I am wondering this might be one the few cases when a true view image might actually help affirm that the fields/surfaces are quite clean--it's just difficult to photograph that through a slab. but held under a light, the surfaces seem fine. I was not suspecting PVC damage, but I have always had the luxury of having the coin in front of me when assessing it.

i would agree, a rare occasion but it does happen once every decade . without in hand and with that much toning its very difficult to assess the surfaces. this is confirmed by those chiming in on this on. where you had 2 - MS63 grades a others would not even assign one.

you had the best possible photos you could probably get with this one. personally I dont care for toned coins and especially this heavy but thats just a personal choice. my biggest concern is how they hold up over the years. if this was mine I probably would have requested conservation particularly for the obv

I always find die clashes interesting, and this one has a significant one on the reverse. Pretty cool coin.
