I just picked up a nice VDB on the cheap but it has green spots.

Should I leave it alone or is there a way to 'conserve' this coin without damaging it?

Is this a situation where verdi gone would be used?

This looks like the start of verdigris, if left alone it will spread and eat into the coin. I would try Verdi-Gone and than Renwax.

It looks like paint maybe acetone can remove it. But wait for an expert as I'm not an expert on this.

I agree - A few mintues soaking in acetone can't hurt.

Give it a try.

It looks like it has been cleaned in the past, probably for the same reason. I would try the Verdi-Gone like echizento said, if you can get it all of it will be a very nice solid xf coin.
