2016 Shawnee P Quarter Error - On Shawnee

Coachk2525 New Member United States 17 Posts	Posted 09/17/2022 5:59 pm I am at a total loss on this error. I noticed in comparison to other SHAWNEE coins that the lettering is off, but doesn't look doubled, more looks scratched on each character under the magnifier. Then I notices what looks to be a die crack under the S. In addition when the coin is tilted I can see a letter in the heavier than usual inner rim. This coin has the die chip on the eagle and the extra rock on the pile. There are a few other odd things as I magnify. The Obverse of the coin is equally odd. It looks as if George has chicken pox with all the puncture wounds, but around the wounds and in general the coin is brilliant, meaning shinny with nice coat. Can anyone help me decipher what is going on with this coin? Report this Post to the Staff

The doubling that you see on the inset letters is Machine Doubling.
