Hi everyone. I understand that some frown upon opening sealed mint sets. This one I chose to do so because of this one cent piece. I've never seen a coin with an error like this really and I'm not sure what would cause it. In the mylar sealed packaging the coin was right on the edge where the mylar was sealed. I'm not sure what process seals the mylar but could that have caused it? In any case. Here are the pictures. Some cool toning on the coin too. Let me know what you think.
Technically not a mint error, it happened after the strike, but it's mint damage. Still pretty cool. There might be a premium on this, you don't see to many of them.
CoopHome: Can coins be damaged at the mint? yes, but when this happens you can send in soon to get a replacement. But after a few weeks, it is too later to get a replacement. Not a desirable coin. (as far a I know)
