I was wondering what any of you have regretted selling and would still like to own. Mine was an 1881 CC that should have graded Au-58, but I was new to the hobby and was easily persuaded and taken advantage of by a dealer.

I kind of regret selling my AGE 20th anniversary set. I say kind of, because I made a nice profit and purchased a nice coin with the money.

Virtually my entire collection while in college to pay for a computer. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Value of collection as it was if I had kept it? Thousands. Value of that 286 computer? 000000.00

I can honestly say I regret selling just about every coin that I have sold for just about any reason , lately I have sold quite a few coins to fund tools which I need for a new job , each had its own memorial in my mind as I packaged them up to ship and each is missed from its place on the shelf .
but in the end when all is said and done they are all replaceable and as things smooth out and I profit from their sale I will replace most of what was sold .

During my early years in collecting I sold a coin which I was thought was a normal coin and sold it very cheap and later I realized it was a pattern coin.

I also have recently sold quite a few of my coins lately and still have several coins that I will be selling, although I have been able to use most of the proceeds to upgrade my IHC collection Most of these are duplicates from my type collection so it hasn't greatly effected my overall goal, but none the less I still miss every one of them I have taken pics of them before I sold them, so this helps a little

I don't know why, but I have never been able to sell or trade for that matter anything I have. I just can't seem to let go.

Selling off my collection in 1980 to buy a bass boat. The bass boat is gone to lake in the sky and the current value of that collection would buy me a cabin cruiser today.

And your not the only one. I've been coin collecting and several other items, for well over 60 years. So far have never sold anything. Sure would like to start cleaning house but now to old and lazy to get rid of anything. Still have the first coin in my collection.

All I have sold are 14 40% silver JFKs and 3 common worn merc dimes that I found while roll hunting. No regrets, I got $35 for them.

I have never sold anything, but I did trade some 40% silver Kennedy half-dollars for some Franklin half-dollars. No regrets here, either!

I have yet to sell a coin but I am really excited about selling my first coin. The reason being is that I will buy more coins. It is like buying my first house. I sold it, and bought three more, etc... Constantly improving my collection.

Never sold anything.......but I've "gifted" things.....and I gotta say...... THAT was even painful....! The gifts were sometimes fairly appreciated, but.....it seemed to "hurt me" to part with any coin each and every time. On one hand I get enjoyment from that.....but......it's hard !... And yes.......they WILL GO WITH ME WHEN I DIE !...... .....just kiddin'....err....welllll.....

Eaglefoot, that reminds me of the wealthy man who wanted to take it all with him. So he gave $1M to his pastor and told him to put it in his casket. He did the same with his accountant and attorney.
Years later, after the wealthy man's funeral, the three of them got together for coffee. That Pastor said, "I have a confession, I kept 1/4 of the money for our church, we really needed it, please forgive me." The accountant admitted that he kept 1/2 of it for purely selfish reasons. The Attorney looked at both them and just shook his head. He said, "I can't believe you two, keeping some of his money. I put a check in the casket for the full $1M."

I was forced into a financial corner last year, and had to liquidate pretty much everything of any value in my collection. Each and every sale was painful, because I collect individual coins for their personal appeal rather than towards some set goal. If I had to choose the one that hurt the most, though, I think it would have to be the 1818 Large Cent: I had wanted an 1818 N-10 from the moment I first knew of them.
