1962 D Jefferson Nickel SMS Verses Regular Strike

allcoinsaregood Pillar of the Community United States 808 Posts	Posted 09/21/2022 6:12 pm Ok I know I shouldn't do this because it's two coins together but I couldn't help it. I got both coins in the same bank roll last week and the coincidence was too good to pass up! The first 1962 D was as shiny as could be and three coins down I found the second 1962 D which was dull and looked like a business strike Nickel. However the coin obverse was prestine with no marks and Jefferson was clean. Neither coin had full steps and the duller coin had spots located on Monticello and the reverse was not great. Also the finish has taken hits on the shiny one. But I thought what an interesting two coins! So I thought everyone could appreciate them and I would store them in a big flip together. The Special Mint Sets were struck from 1965 to 1967 with an SMS of a totally different type in 1964. Great pair to find in the same roll!
