This one was put up on ebay by the same seller who had a 1937 mated pair listed as separate listings. Again, these were put up separately but after winning the first half I was able to also get the second half.

For this one I would say MS61 is pretty generous, given the damage to the reverse and the coin looks more AU than MS. But how do you get an AU mated pair? Maybe it split after circulating for a bit when someone dropped it?

1. That is a great pickup, thanks for sharing!

2. HOW, and in what universe is the reverse half an MS61, NGC? Besides the obvious environmental damage on the rim, there are scrape marks around the whole rim of the coin, and a big fat gash through the right hand side roof of the memorial building lol

Thanks! I like split planchets, and so finding a spiffy mated pair was great. Also I seem to have quite the batch of various errors from this year so adds to my somewhat random collection of 1966 coins.
