Soliciting your opinions on this 1838 half dollar. First, does it appear genuine? Second what grade would you give it? I notice a rim dent on the reverse so it would probably detail this coin. Your candid opinions are appreciated. Thank You!

Never mind, I just noticed it is a German seller and that is a no go for me. I'll keep looking but thanks anyway!

Certainly genuine. This seller lists many bust halves from Germany. Usually a little pricey than you can find otherwise.

What a bunch of garbage on ebay when searching this series. I was hoping to find a straight graded PCGS or NGC coin in about VF-20 to VF-35. Everything I see on the bay is either a details coin or raw and the asking prices far exceed that of a straight graded PCGS example. I'll just have to be patient and wait for the right deal. I refuse to pay more than the retail value for a damaged or details coin.

These reeded edge bust halves seem to come with problems quite frequently. It is a good idea to wait for a problem free example.
