Looks to be a larger Roman piece intended to be silver?
22.43 grams 32mm
Guessing could be pewter / tin / lead alloy?
Traces of silvering of some type left in the protected areas.

I have about 50 fakes that look very similar in fabric to example pictured.
Every serious collector should collect fakes,
provided the very low price is right.

Every serious collector has to learn what they look like,
so that they can use their products against those who manufacture and market them.

Imitating a Sestertius of Drusus the Elder - so supposed to be copper. Likely a so-called sand cast. See here for another example - https://www.forumancientcoins.com/f...layimage.php

I'm adding a little more information about this piece.
It has a double X punched in the edge.
Is this or was this a commonly found way to mark the piece as a fake?
And if so, why not just a lot more damage to mutilate it?
Specific Gravity at 10.2 is not much help alone so XRF could be helpful.
I know it is not a silver coin, but 10.2 could be obtained with 85% silver & 15% copper.
Could also be obtained with 80% lead & 20% tin or even 100% molybdenum.
52% zinc & 48% tungsten would also be about 10.2
I don't know if these metals could really be combined as written, I'm just using ratios whether or not they are viable for coinage.
Just saying knowing SG by itself is not so useful.
Here are a couple pictures of the XX on edge and also some trapped silvery substance.

This is a well known cast fake.

The XX on the side could well be punched on there by the seller to aid identification, like a serial number. These were even distributed as fakes through Amazon.com.

Just wanted to add that, even without the other indications of falsehood, the fact that it is so round means it isn't an ancient handstruck coin.

I agree. Nice fake though. Nice fakes still have some value.
