1982 D Lincoln Cent Missing Coating?

I got this 1982D from my Uncle who had it in pocket change. Interesting in that it seems to be missing Zinc coating or something, but almost looks like a steel or silver ... sorry about the photos ...

Looks to be plated in either silver or steel. That's my guess. Hard to tell from photos. to the CCF!

Weigh it on a scale that is accurate to 0.1 grams. Both brass and copper plated zinc cents were minted in 1982 so if it weighs 3.1 grams, then you just have a plated brass cent. If it weighs 2.5 grams, then it might not have the copper plating or it could have a post-mint plating job. Post-mint plated coins usually have tell-tale signs that can be seen but your pics are too pixellated to visually tell what is going on.

Thanks ... I'll try to get some better pictures ... wife is visiting the kids and has our newer camera and I can't figure out the macro mode on the old one.

I need to find some scales ... I'm interested in what's going on with this coin.
