Quote: Is there any advantage to having a 1975 set (penny nickle and dime, 1975) and/or 1976 set each having the bicentennial quarter, half and dollar? For what is worth, the 1975 set has a variety 1 reverse Ike, the 1976 set as the variety 2 reverse.

BobTeel55, Great Year 1955. My birth year Too. The 1955 Double Die Lincoln Cent !!!!! !!!! Just a note, the 1976 silver 3-coin sets are 40%, if I remember correctly. Those sets are as collectible as any. I too collect Mint/Proof sets. It's a challenge to locate Original " Condition "sets . Not sure I am understanding Your 1975 partial set and the 1976 partial set ? Please explain. Jbuck, Your the " "IKE " man !!!! PS, Love the Brown and blue boxed IKES They Too are Sweet, also in Silver .....

Quote: Not sure I am understanding Your 1975 partial set and the 1976 partial set ? Both sets have six coins, but three of them (Quarter, Half, Dollar) are duplicates being 1776-1976 dated. Only the cent, nickel, and dime have unique dates (1975 and 1976). I pointed out that the dollars are also unique to the set (variety 1 and variety 2 reverse). So only the quarter and half are true duplicates when you have both sets.

I am working on the 1936-1942 era. I have a complete 42 set NGC graded in an oversized holder and have put together a 41 set including both half dollar varieties (w/ & w/o AW). Finding a nice 41 half with AW is tougher than you would think.
I also have 1952-mid seventies or eighties. I would like to get the 1951 and 1950 sets. I really don't care about the more modern sets as I think they are way overpriced and have been for a while.

Well I just bought the 1951 proof box mint set, on payday, I'll buy the 1950 mint set, then I'm all set for 1950 to present on proof AND uncirculated mint sets The box is a little rough around the edges, but I have a better looking one already labeled for 1951 that I will transfer the coins to. This 1951 set only cost me 650 dollars.

Thanks - just one more set to go (1950) I'm not sure if I will chase down the 1936 to 1942 sets (did the mint even make them as sets?) But I will continues to try to get the proofs from these years. I have the Cents, Jeff Nickels, and Quarters. Just need the Buff Nickels (36 & 37) and the Merc Dimes and Walk Lib Halves from '36 to 42. But thee are bu-ku expensive so may not happen anytime soon....

The Mint did make the Proof sets 1936, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, and the 2- of the 1942 set. Then jumps to 1950. PS, I'd like to see the 1909 S VDB Lincoln Cent your getting .....
