Can someone describe to me in detail how the edge lettering should look on a 1833 bust half.was the lettering on the rim done first and then the coin held in place to do obverse and reverse leaving vertical seems across some of the edge letterings

The vertical seams are common on bust halves. I'm not familiar with their minting procedure though. Today the faces are coined then the edge lettering added (sometimes!).

My 2009 Red Book states this under Bust Halves: 1832-1836 Edge: Vertical lines added between words.
