Can someone please help me in determining whether this nickel is offset or within normal limits is it double died? It's a 1971D.

Your coin appears to have a slight (MAD) misaligned die.... but much better, up-close photos are necessary to determine if it is a Doubled Die.

It is less then 5%. I think you refer to the U in TRUST. To flow the picture.

@meg, first welcome to CCF. Second, we typically say that there is a premium if the letters have started to fall off the edge. This one is close enough that it would probably be a keeper for me.

Don't confuse "Doubled Die" with striking errors. They are very different animals

I look on the collectors interest for Off. If it is less then 15% will stay an off but not premium.
