I've included a normal 2016 for comparison. Left side was struck right against the rim. It follows upward to include a few letters in the motto. Any idea what I am looking at ?

Is your example coin the same year and die set as the one you are asking about?
Please show the entire coin of your comparison coin.
Also, is the edge of your coin taller making the coin look thicker?

The comparison coin was the same year and mint. It's unlikely that it came from the same die. I just wanted to show what it should have looked like. This looked like an offset strike to me but I have not seen one this far off before. I'll try to get you a full picture of the comparison coin.

The misalignment of the dies is obvious: note IGWT, and how the legend begins, and ends, in relation to the rim
