OK! Thanks, those are much better pictures.
I still think it is staining - the shape of the stain could have been caused by another coin on top and transferring its image to your coin from any acidic liquid that may have contacted both.

No amount of new pictures is going to change anyone's mind, it is staining.
What you are describing is impossible to happen during the striking of the coin.
It happened after it left the mint so it is PMD

Staining. Nothing more.

All errors occur as part of the minting or die making process. If you still disagree, please explain which part of the process this could occur? I know of no step which would leave that staining. Here is A link to a site developed and maintained by the top error experts in the country. See if you can find anything remotely resembling your coin. https://www.error-ref.com

Something that helps in cases like this is to know the minting process. There is nothing in the minting process that would produce the type of thing you are asking about (like his shadow) etc. The way the dies are hubbed and then used to mint coins cannot produce an actual shadow image to the side of the effigy. It would be good to fnd some online videos about this to help you understand why we can be so certain this is just staining.

I originally made the graphic quite awhile ago b/c I kept having to inform people they had a cupholder coin. A picture is worth a thousand words...so I started using the graphic instead.
