From what little research that I've been able to do within the past few hours, I was wondering if maybe this Lincoln Pipe cent is an actual mint error and worth anything more than one cent?!

@mac, first welcome to CCF. Second, I was expecting to see a counter stamped pipe, but After looking at the pipe, I don't think that is what you have here. The entire pipe looks raised above the surface of the field, which means some other method was used to create this. There is no numismatic value beyond face, but I would definitely keep this cent as a novelty.

The pipe was added to the surface of this cent. It was done very well too, usually copper is soldered to copper, but I cannot see any solder - maybe a pipe shaped piece of copper that was super glued to to the cent? It sure is a nice piece (pipe) Added: On second thought, can we see the reverse side? Maybe this is a counterstamp that was applied from the reverse (with extreme care and accuracy.....)

Very nice! You can find Lincoln smoking cigars, cigarettes and pipes. Yours is a great example.

Hello everyone and thanks for your responses! I found out, late last night, that the penny is in fact, a novelty item that someone added. Pretty neat, though.

Your CENT is not a mint error, it's just post mint damage.

to the CCF The pipe is a counterstamp, just in reverse. Instead of the pipe being punched into the surface, the surface around the pipe is smashed into the surface, leaving the impression of the pipe. If you look at the reverse, it will show a big, raised area around the pipe.
