Got this commemorative 1936 Gettysburg Blue and Gray from my local coin shop. Sold as AU

Appreciate sagely advice, but it was years ago and I remember a fair trade with some other coins, that I added to my 10 year collection. I enjoy American History and coins in all grades, except my A.S.E. sets/reverse proof MS70. Thanks again!

My eyes see a harshly cleaned "Details" coin. Lots of straight lines on both sides from brushing - not natural. Sorry!

EF, harshly cleaned.
Hope you got it cheap. If that is the case, then OK.

It appears to be an authentic example but alas - as already stated - it has been harshly cleaned and deprived of any true numismatic value as a result.

It has some historical value as a classic silver commemorative - but maybe 2x spot silver is all I would pay for it.

I politely suggest you bring it back to your local coin shop and ask the proprietor why he was taking your hard earned money by suggesting this was an AU coin.
