Is it real and what are thoughts on grade? I believe it to be real as I found similar reference with same die cracks.

AU 53 to 55 for me. A little too bright for a 169 year old coin, probably dipped.

No signs of residual luster under the lettering.
I agree with the opinion 'dipped'.
evidence of overall surface roughness.
AU-53, would have been higher if not dipped.

Signs of a developing die crack from stars to the date numerals (obv.)

Nice LDS coin with rough fields and crack development. This coin is bright, void of complete luster, and has hairlines visible on reverse. Dipped and wiped. I don't see any wear, UNC details cleaned.

Certainly looks dipped to me as well, but a nice coin nonetheless.

Nothing looks askew at first look. No disturbances in the fields, date looks OK. Die cracks are hard to duplicate in cast counterfeits, too.

Real, AU details, dipped, as noted above. A shame -- I bet it had great surfaces before someone tried to "improve" the shiny.

The die cracks make it very interesting to me, personally.

Took some time but, finally received her today. Sellers photos were junk, I see no evidence of cleaning, wiping or dipping. I got lucky, she turns out to be a lovely looking piece, with great luster in hand. What grade would you give her now?

No coin of this era could have survived in blast white. I still vote dipped, whether it affects the grade or not.
