I'll say VF-35. Knockout con.

I'd say VF-30 with some asymmetric weakness from the misaligned obverse die.

What a beauty. It would be super cool to view coins like these in hand. VF-35 for me.
I like the misaligned dies, oddball errors are appealing to me. If I was collecting by variety, I would like another example and keep this as a type.

take my ANA summer seminar class! I bring most of my large cents and pass them around the class. the guy I teach with brings some excellent stuff as well. the ANA also has some really neat stuff. its a very hands on experience.

just looking at the coin overall I cant get it to VF35 even with the weakness. I'm at VF25 and typically I lean to the higher grade for these due to planchet issues that are rampant

In my opinion, a nice S-287, with even surfaces and nice colour, struck with mis-aligned dies causing some peripheral weakness on the right side of the obverse. I grade it as VF20.

im in the VF range on this one as well. I think its pretty easy to justify any number between 25 and 35. for an eac grade I think its a 20 no net average+. when it sold at the eac club auction in 1999 it was described as 20 net 15+ average+. there are some small scattered nicks, so I can see where they were coming from on the slight net. i think the misaligned dies make this a really interesting coin for grading. the stars to the left are so weak and the ones on the right are so bold. misaligned dies are common on classic head cents. it can be challenging to find a well centered piece. i have a number of errors in my variety set. I'm not going to buy and keep better version of this coin any time soon, so any non MAD coin will be a downgrade. this is a pretty minor error though. classic heads come with much more extreme MAD than this.

VF25
EAC F12, net grade to VG8 for off center strike, rough area between Liberty's nose and stars and possible pitting on reverse between U and A,

Guess I overshot this one - I'll drop to VF-25. Despite the centering and unevenness, I just love the clean look.

i dunno coinfrog. I think a market grade of 35 is reasonable. if you look at the slabbed ones that have sold at auction in the last decade you wont find a 35 thats significantly nicer. you have to go up to market 40 before you run into coins that are consistently better. id certainly be pricing it at 35+ money if I were looking to sell it (its not for sale). when someone didnt like the price I would tell them it was ok that this coin wasnt for them and that they were welcome to go find a different one.

I chose VF-35 as a market grade from the visible fine die flow lines and overall surface quality.
