The forum appears to be gone. All links loop back the the Torex homepage.
Hard to believe it was 11 years since most of us turned around, threw the matches and burnt that bridge. Good riddance.
However, I digress, the hidden gems of that page were some of the excellent articles about Canadian coins that Tom Becker wrote for the site. It was Tom's article on nickel dollars that sent me down a rabbit hole for good!!
I should really try to find a copy of Tom Becker's book "Confessions of a Coin Dealer". Yes, it went to bye-bye land a few weeks ago. At one time, it was the premier coin site on the net and a great deal of research and papers came of it. Like many others, when the webmaster/owner went off the deep end, a huge bunch of us left and told him to also delete all the posts, papers, pics and research from the site that each of us had posted. In one week about 20,000 posts with great info went into destruction mode. The roots of many Charlton back-of-the-book variety sections were removed, as well as the nearly complete outline for 3 books and a number of CNJ articles. A dozen or so of us became very good friends, both by writing into the site, or meeting in person at the Torex shows downtown, some of the folks from the West Coast. Just one weekend of posts might have been 3-4 thorough pages. In the last few years, it had maybe 4-5 posts for the year. I say good riddance. He ruined his mother's site.

I don't believe it was ever Ingrid's website, although I don't know the history behind its creation - it could have been her idea as a means to promote to collectors interacting with each other?

SPP. The way I understood it, and I got it from him is that Ingrid created it and gave it to him to run in full time to increase Canadian Numismatic interest, as well as increasing his own knowledge.. And he did a great job until 10 or so years ago. The site hung on for a few years but, for the last 4-5 years less than a post a month

That was the original site for many of us for sure. Lots of new discoveries, discussions and interesting finds showed up there. Although I'm not sad to see it gone, for a while it did serve as an archive for many topics.

It was the first online forum that I ever joined and It was disappointing when everyone left but understandable. The demise of the site taught me to make my own notes of information I wanted for my records and not expect it to be at my fingertips on any online site. Life is fickle.
Cheers, Bill

The silver lining Bill, is that it was a site responsible for many of us getting together and becoming friends.

I totally agree. without that site I would not have the many world friends that I have today. My knowledge of Vickys has grown tremendously and so has my collection.
Cheers Don
Vickies cents and GB Farthings nut. "Old" is a figure of speech and nothing more
