Yes that shelf-like doubling that reduces the width of the letters on UNITED STATES is Machine Doubling.

Frustrating for this one coin yes, but good to learn how to tell the difference yourself, right? Also, with the silver content, you still have a saver.

Very true...I have a bunch of half dollar coins ranging from 1966, 1968, 1971, 1977, 1995 And 1996. My dad started my love for coins and older coin collecting #128525;
