US Mint - The United States Mint (Mint) today announced that the 2023 Morgan dollar & Peace dollar Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set (S) will be available at noon (EST) on November 9. The Morgan dollar & Peace dollar Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set contains one Morgan dollar Coin and one Peace dollar Coin minted at the United States Mint at San Francisco in .999 silver with reverse proof finishes. Priced at $185, the set's mintage is limited to 250,000, with a household order limit of five in effect for the first 24 hours. Each set is encapsulated and packaged in a single, elegant black box with a sleeve and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The set is included in the Mint's Authorized Bulk Purchase Program. No more than 10% of products with limited quantities will be distributed to authorized bulk purchasers under this program. The 2023 renditions of the Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars feature two of the most revered designs of Liberty in U.S. coinage history. The Morgan dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, features an obverse profile of Lady Liberty, and the reverse features a heraldic eagle. The Peace dollar, designed by Anthony de Francisci, features the Goddess of Liberty on the obverse and a bald eagle clutching an olive branch on the reverse.

Very Hopeful the " San Francisco Mint " will Live up to a Better than Expected or Better than The Last Proofs Issued, The Morgan and Peace dollars, IMO Were Disappointing, to say the Least...... The Reverse Proof Set.!!!!! Agreed The 250,000 Mintage is High... But, In the Light of THIS set NEVER being released Before, in the Reverse Proof Finish, It is Special to Me Too....... Now, The UNCIRCULATED Versions, of The Same Coins, Were IMO, Hit out of The Ball Park...... Thank Goodness for The Underdogs........

The mint changed their mind about using 1794 design for next year's liberty medal. If they change their mind and do not continue reverse proof Morgan and Peace dollars the 2023 will be higher demand I think. If they do continue as a series the FIRST year 2023 still holds value in my opinion. But I don't plan on buying future years anyway, my coin budget will be for other coins/bullion.

Quote: packaged in a single, elegant black box with a sleeve I'll fix it for them, ...packaged in a crappy cardboard box with fuzzy lint that will stick to the capsules. I am looking forward to getting these as well despite the terrible packaging.

Looks like the Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar 2023 Two Coin Reverse Proof Set is a bust. Didn't sell out and the sales on ebay are less than steller. Time for a new mint director that understands that high mintage numbers equate to undesirable coins . . .

It is not the mint director's job to ensure they create coins that will allow flippers to make an instant profit. There are several other reasons to be upset with the mint director, but this is not one of them.

Quote: I completely disagree. Cool. Time for a new "non-idiot" mint director. Low mintage is what makes coin collecting a good hobby. And, most of us collect coins because it's a great place to store wealth. High mintages makes coins no more intesting than cabbage patch kids and beanie babies if EVERYONE has them.

I buy coins because I like them, not because of low mintage or future profit. I view my coin purchases as a consumer, not an investor. I leave the investments and speculation to my brokerage accounts.
