Got this strange penny from change yesterday and is this an error coin?

It's just Post Mint Damage or PMD. Something has ground away the copper plating and some of the zinc core as well. Most likely, this coin was perfectly normal when it was struck, but it was cut down intentionally or accidentally.

This could be a Dryer Coin.

It appears to be damage, the spots that still appear to be copper are probably lower/higher than the rest of the coins. Take a look perhaps?

Coin was sanded down. It's a shield back so after 2010.
