I looks that the edge took a hit but I dont think it cause the line under .

Need better clear pictures but if I had to guess it looks like clear substance of some sort and damage on the rim.

No I dont think so it looks like a cut but not sharp object

I think whatever caused the rim ding also caused the cut.
I'm going with PMD as I can't see how this could happen
when the coin was struck.
