Hey folks

Have a kool one for you today.

Buffalo nickel experts please chime in.

1925-s FS-401 (2 feather)

It also looks to be the FS-501 S/S RPM

I have never seen the 2 of these together, very interesting find.

Let me know what you think.

That's not the only m/m position, but the others don't look exact either.

I was told the main marker to look for was the filled S, it looks to have a ball in it.

I wasn't sure if this is common on buffalo's or a key indicator of s/s.

You said it was FS-501. If the MM has a different position, then it isn't FS-501. I don't see any other RPMs for 1925-S. Please enlighten me if there are more.

I shouldn't have used that for reference haha.

Variety vista recognizes other s/s.

Thanks for the info. The other three RPMs are in a different position also. Two are centered on the E and C and the other, the left side of the S is just about even with the outside curve of the C.

Agreed, certainly a 2F, but no RPM present. I've seen the filled S on several other reverse dies, besides RPM-001. The dies saw so much use this year that by the time they hit LDS they had all kinds of issues. RPM-001 (FS-501) is the easiest to spot. The others I've had trouble picking over the years, as the second MM often becomes a blur in the Die Deterioration. I believe I only have 2 of the 4 for this year, FS-501 being one of them. The rest have evaded me. . . So far.

Edit: 5 total RPMs for that year, left out one Wexler has listed.
