to explain what people are talking about and help you identify damage and cleaning in the future -

someone wiped the surface of this coin with something abrasive. that action scratched the coins surface. those scratches are often called hairline scratches. hairlines are usually the result of someone using improper technique to try and clean a coin. scratches of any kind are called post mint damage or PMD. damage is bad. undamaged coins are good. dont clean coins or you will damage them.

as a general rule the coins that are the most prized by the advanced collectors are those with little or no wear and no damage. a damaged coin can still be fun, or cool and many still have financial value. damaged coins will always be less desirable than the coins with original patina and original surfaces. the ideal coin is well struck on a quality blank with no wear and no damage of any kind.
