Deliberation78 New Member Brazil 3 Posts	Posted 12/11/2022 3:42 pm I purchased at an auction this Aureus Magnus 2,5 Ducat John F Kennedy Visits Europe 1963 - Werner Graul. Strangely, its weight is 7.84g (normal is 8.8g) and even stranger is that its obverse is marked 900, instead of 980. It seems to me that the 8 was changed to 0. Does anyone know any cases of faking this medal? I didn't find anything about copies or replicas. It looks like real gold to me. Report this Post to the Staff

sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 12/11/2022 5:57 pm XRF testing with a bullion dealer may be of some help, but be aware that what the XRF test may only detect gold plating on the surface. Without knowledge on my part, there remains the possibility that it could be genuine, made from .900 gold, but I strongly suspect that, that is not the case. My theory is that a .900 coin should weigh exactly 8.00 grams, which is not consistent with this example. Report this Post to the Staff
