Hi all,
I'm still going through dads old coins and found this 1964 penny that was in a plastic Sheldon sleeve that has come apart on one side.
I'm attaching pics both obverse and reverse to see what grade it would be.

I can't quite figure out what those marks behind Lizzie's head may be, but they may? could? seriously affect the grading.
If you could tell us something about them, grading from these pics should be easy.

There is a small nick in front of the kangaroo's paws.

Thanks sel_69l. I have no idea on what those marks behind lizzys head is, but attaching another pic as I'm not sure if it appears on the second pic or not.

Can't see any sign of them on the 2nd obv. pic.
I will make the assumption that they are of little importance.
Thus, grade is
choice red Uncirculated. (Not quite gem.)

A Sheldon grade would be MS-64.

I'm going to assume the "weird marks behind the head" in the first pic are just an odd lighting effect and not actual marks on the coin, as I can't see them in the second pic. I'm not entirely sure what a "Sheldon sleeve" is, but it seems to have done an okay job of preserving this coin.

The coin is certainly Uncirculated - which is not all that unusual for 1964-dated pennies, since many were kept as souvenirs of the old money once 1966 rolled around.

I am seeing a hint of a fingerprint on the reverse beneath the kangaroo, unless it's that same lighting glitch; it worries me enough to shy away from a Gem Unc grade. Perhaps MS-63 or 64, on the American standard?

Edit: I made my post without reading Sel's post. I'm glad we seem to agree on the grading.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
