Hello, I have this 1900 Morgan silver dollar, and because of the small dents around the edge, I'm thinking that it is only worth the silver. What do you all think? PS To be clear I'm not trying to sell this here, just looking for help with price. *** Edited by Staff - Cropped images. Collectors and stackers like Morgan and Peace dollars. Common dates sell for more than silver melt value even in worn circulated condition often called culls as long as they are genuine, not fake. You can check ebay sold listings and see how much they are going for. IMO yours looks circulated, maybe cleaned, but still nice.

I am pretty sure it is real, just not too sure of the value. It contains 24 grams of silver, so that would be $18 bucks. Several above that would make it a $20-25 coin?

Unfortunately, rim damage detracts from the collectability of this common date. to the CCF!

No collector/numismatic value but stacking value these are going for around $25 -$30 each on ebay in tubes of twenty. Dealers have been listing them for more these days. A few years ago I was buying cull Morgans for $15 each.

So that would make this a $30-40 coin or even less. I should have accepted the $50 offer from the coin buyer yesterday!

Quote: I should have accepted the $50 offer from the coin buyer yesterday! I would have. But, it is still in play to someone if you want to sell. You may be able to get $30-40 with no trouble as others have said.

The more time I spend on this the more I think I should just sell to a dealer. The shop yesterday looked through my stack of about 100 coins and was just adding with a calculator, and came up with $160 for all. More and more that is sounding about right.

It's not very worn, you can still see some of the eagle breast feathers, someone could pay you higher than cull worth.

Pull the Morgans out of the stack and sell the other silver if you need to. It doesn't sound like you have a large pile of coins, so it might pay to put them aside and wait to see where silver goes. Morgans will probably always be worth more than their silver value if nothing goes crazy.
Keep listing what you have here - there may be a diamond in the rough hiding in your stack.

Hey Mrb3 you will always find some pretty good grading opinions on this Forum. I'd suggest doing what you have been and posting good photos of both sides for each coin you want a grade on. Then once you have the grade there are plenty of sites to help narrow down a reasonable value, should you decide to sell. i.e.: try typing in a Google search for whatever coin you have followed by PCGS and you will have tons of info. Or, as others have suggested, do an ebay search for Sold and it will give you a decent idea what people are getting for similar pieces. Be aware that Dealers will almost only ever pay about 40% value for a coin because they need to turn a profit too.

It's a nice "cull" ...... I would be towards the higher end of the cull coin pricing as sited by others

the coin has been cleaned and the rim damage appears to be from K10-K2. this would not be normal if it just was dropped or something like that. to me it signifies that the coin may have been mounted in a holder. looks AU but the coin would details. since its a common coin there is not much if any premium over melt. maybe $35
