I'll say MS-67RD. Knockout.

Sounds picky, I know... The obverse photos are a little contrasty--cant see some of the details. Having said that, I'm good with MS66.

I know I am being extra picky but...the black specks obverse and reverse along with the stained spots one above the L and one below liberty bothers me. John1

this one is right up there. I have it at MS67RD. nice coin my friend.. the spot under LIBERTY and the small carbon spots on the reverse keep it out of the 67+/68 range
the biggest issue you have with this one is grading risk to get it slabbed. at 66 its only a $25-30 coin at 67 its upwards of $250-300. tough call
PCGS has graded over 3000 at 66 163 at 66+ 147 at 67

Dropping my grade to MS-66RD.

And I upped my grade to 66+/67 after seeing it in hand. The eye appeal and luster are off the charts. I think the toning will take it over the edge, just MHO but I had the luxury of seeing the coin in hand.

It seems to me that the camera picks up slight contours of the copper that gives the appearance of a hit. Many of those apparent hits are not noticeable with a loupe. In hand the shoulder looks much smoother. Rotating this coin under lights and with a loupe, a scratch or hit jumps out at you. the scratches are so, so small. The mark by "L" of LIBERTY , I thought was grease and never took the time to wipe it off. What caught my eye the most was the marks by O of ONE at 11 o'clock. Trying to do as much homework as possible if these marks are indeed die clash marks then that would explain the marks on the shoulder also (since they line up on an overlay). I was told and I also read that TPG'S know this and they are not deductible points. Viewing a large number of 67 coins especially on HA .com one would often see these marks on a 67 coin. Any helpful thoughts or opinions on the subject are encouraged and appreciated.

there is a broad range of what NGC is calling 67. some are super clean shoulders sharper strikes and that cherry toning that they love and others have those similar marks on the shoulder and lapel
can this one make 67RD? by NGC standards it has a good shot. all the PCGS 67RD I could track down did not exhibit these marks to this extent and several had that cherry toning. my guess is your best shot is NGC for a 67 grade on this one
