My father recently passed away, and he left behind a bunch of coins and jewelry which I'm sorting through. I recall him mentioning this piece to me, and he wasn't sure if it was real or not. To me, it looks fake. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks.

It purports to be a silver tetradrachm of king Lysimachus of Thrace. But it doesn't really look silvery. I suspect it's a replica specifically made for jewellery.

Hard for me to tell the alloy with this amount of toning. Consider bringing to a coin shop or pawn shop and have them scan it to see if it is silver or not.

I agree. Authentic coins of Lysimachus were of good quality silver. The level of debasement here suggests, as Sap says, a "replica" rather than an attempt to truly deceive (as in an out-and-out forgery).

Really nice style, though.

I'm not convinced this is fake. I gave the coin to my brother, assuming it was fake, and now I'm having second guesses. He looked at it, and he said there was a lot of tarnish on it due to being mounted in a pendant. I think I'll have it looked at by a coin shop. If it's real, my brother and I might have to split the value. After I posted my previous posts, I found a piece of paper my dad had for this coin. Here are more photos...
