TCNC is putting up some more crappola. Item #425 is described as thus:
425. 1882H 1¢ Obv 1 ICCS Choice About Uncirculated-55. Designated as Single Serif N, not known to exist in this date. This could be a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to acquire this rare variety. First one seen in 40 years. This would be an important addition to a major collection or a major highlight of a personal collection. A 'tasty' find for any serious collector and will most certainly serve as an absolute treasure in their collection. Excessively rare. Worth a premium bid. Expect strong interest and bidding. Opening Bid: ($1,000) $3,000 AND UP
As a friend of mine brought my attention to the auction and huge mistake, I sent them a nastygram. EVERY 1882 Obv 1 has single serif N's, since the master was the 1876H Obverse. I have over 30 of them and there are no other Obv 1's any different, though there are 7 varieties of other types known for the date. DO NOT bid on this item. Both Zoell and Griffin noted this back in the '60's, so it's not new knowledge. I will not refer to CNC by their given name, as I prefer to call them the Canadian Numismatic Crxxxs (rhymes with books). Edited by okiecoiner 01/11/2023 6:39 pm

Okiecoiner, you and a very small handful of others know the size of the hoard of Vickie cents in my collection that I'm sitting on. For 1882, and for purposes or validation of your post, here is what I have in general detail:
1882 coins: 864 total Obv 2: 390 coins Obv 2/1: 21 coins Obv 1a/1: 44 coins Obv 1a: 209 coins, 4 distinct dies of the group are single serif, 53 coins total, Griffin identified these as a group Obv 1: 200 coins, 7 distinct dies, all single serif, Griffen identified these as a group, Zoell identified a couple of examples
Admittedly my focus is Obv. 1x coins so the ratio of Obv 1x to Obv 2 is weighted to 1x so the numbers above can't be held against Obv 2 as true. Meaning that my research is heavily weighted to Obv 1x and I happen to have a good sampling of Obv 2 coins as well. Although you can't blend the Obv 2 against the Obv 1x in my data set based on the way I've accumulated them. I do think the numbers do have a validating point to your comment.
#425, if exceptional, is full trends at best for 1882, otherwise, 60%

Thanks Dan. I have over 300 Obv 1's, 1a's, & 1a/1's as I found more Obv 1's yesterday(in bags, divided by Obv types, probably from what I loaned you) after I had posted about TCNC's auction. I have over 200 Obv 2's and maybe 20-30 2/1's. I still feel like I should shout at the top of my lungs that "ALL 200 OF MY 1882 OBV 1's ARE ALL SINGLE SERIF N's". How The Numismatic crooks can say that none even known about for 40 years and "none known to exist for this date" is full of sh*t. They had better take the auction down today. I've sent them 2 emails.

The jerks still haven't pulled the item. All they did (and yet left the $1000 opening bid) was add a sentence with some information that I sent to them in one of my emails:
" Note; Even though there is no mention of this variety existing, there is belief amongst collectors that this could be more common then believed type and identical to those found on the 1876H Cent."
The "no mention of this variety ever existing" is because it wasn't a VARIETY. It was the standard 1882 issue and was covered extensively by Zoell and Griffin from the 60's on.
I got an email from them after I posted above that said that they were adding the comment above. They still won't retract the part about this variety never having been know before ... I tried to tell them again that it was no variety, but rather the standard every-coin mintage!. What dunderheads!

It looks like they will remove the item after he talks to the consigner. I talked to the auctioneer by phone.

It's definitely pulled ..... feels good. Bid was $1500 I think when it went, for a $20 coin. Lot 426, the next coin was $7500 with 2 days to go.
