I wonder how many were snuck out the back door of the mint because they don't look like give-away specs? It's surprising that the 1883 actually shows some wear and is a 2/1, so it either circulated or spent a long time in someone's pocket.

I suspect altered back in the early 20th century when some date collectors were sold these things :-)

You have full rolls of 1883 and 1885 Vicky cents? There were none minted. How long have you had them or is there history to them?
