Going through old quarters and noticed this one with odd markings.

Head North on front, eagle south on back when flipped side to side.

@eric, that appears to either be surface staining or dried glue. I can't quite tell which from your pics. Is there a distinct drop off in height as you go from one region to the other?

The would be residue of clear glue on this coin. a soak in either water or if that don't work - acetone may loosen it up to be removed.

Edit: If I were 5 Nano seconds faster my post would have been first...

I agree it looks like something is "on" the coin like maybe glue or epoxy. Not an error.

glue or epoxy. Soak in acetone or just spend it. no mint error here, sorry.
