George Washington 1789 Coin? A Little Help Please

mmerc20 Valued Member United States 372 Posts	Posted 03/05/2009 07:33 am I found someone selling this 1789 George Washington medal (not really a coin) but I can't seem to find my Red Book. I know it exists, but don't know if it's real or not. Anyone out there have one of is familiar with it? I want to know if I should buy it from him. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 03/06/2009 12:24 pm Yep, it's a mint medal. You don't usually see the three inch medal so it is probably the smaller size. Not too many years ago you could buy them direct from the mint for $1.35 they're up to $3.50 now. $45 is ridiculous. Even the 3 inch is only $38 from the mint. Report this Post to the Staff

I think I had it then. either that or I got it on a visit to DC 15 or so years ago. sorry, not for sale. I think you can find them on ebay for a few bucks every now and then. UPDATE: I think I know where I got mine. Went to Fort Clatsop about 20 years ago. I think I got it there. You can still find them for sale online. Mine is 1 1/4" copper plated.
