Ok this is a coin that is in a collection that has been left to me. Of all the things that I could have gotten it is the one thing that I know absolutely NOTHING about- COINS!! LOL I have purchased a " RedBook" but I have so many to go through and learn about that it is becoming difficult and I have a 3 yr old who likes to play with the coins so I want to go through them and get them put up before something happens! Oh and yes I am grateful to have the collection, I just want to learn so I know what I have.

Thanks

It's a Standing Liberty, the design before the Washington we know today.

What is it worth? Is this something that needs to be put into a case or what?

Your coin grades AG3. It's worth $2-$3. Not worth putting in a holder. As stated, it's a Standing Liberty quarter Dollar (90% silver) minted from 1916-1930. Our current Washington quarter dollar 1932-present.

Welcome and it is great you happened by this forum and have some sense of care and concern for your 3 year old and the coins too.
Both need to be handled carefully until you know what you're dealing with.
DO NOT CLEAN YOUR COINS
You may have a coin that looks 3 times more worn than that quarter but worth 1000 times more. You just never know?
Scrubbing it up to find a date or make it pretty could make the crown jewel of your collection worthless.
READ and ASK.
Keep them dirty coins out of the kids hands and mouth, you never know where they've been!
Have fun, stick around. Good to see you!
