I've always wondered what made this lovely piece of Silver to turn pinkish red. Was it a chemical, very odd toning? I'm just not sure. Do you have any ideas!

The photo is a good representation of the coin and color.

Thanks all!

Generally, actual silver doesn't turn that color. Just sayin'
Can you provide the weight and dimensions of this piece?

Looks like a red highlighting marker was used on it and now most of it wore off.

As best I remember the coin is genuine with weight and measurements. I'll have to find her first but, I will provide new info.

Something along those lines has always been my guess too. It's just so strange looking. If I knew what it was I would try something to gently remove it. Although I don't "clean" coins as a general rule. Thanks John1!

This is a strange piece. Looks like a Peace dollar but, the wrong date. Not a U.S. mint product I believe.

Your piece is a privately-struck silver bullion round; it is definitely not a product of the US Mint.

Several private mints struck "Silver Trade Unit" or "World Trade Unit" silver rounds in the 1980s - various designs were employed.

Here's one example:

1986-US-Trade-Dollar-Odd-Color? 1986-US-Trade-Dollar-Odd-Color?

As far as the red coloring on your piece, it's likely the result of how it was stored over the years - influenced by the type of holder, the storage environment, etc. I've seen these rounds displaying reds, blues, purples, etc.
