I went out last week and stopped at quite a few different bank branches looking for rolls of 2009 coins that may have come out. All I was able to get my hands on was 2 rolls of the 2009 Olympic quarter with the skier on it. I sat down just now to start putting them in individual 2x2s and am not feeling very pleased.

The end quarter of course was all scuffed and hazy in the middle.... like all end coins usually are. But then when I removed the quarters carefully one by one I realized the entire roll is that way! All hazy in the middle of the coin and also all aorund the edges have the plating chipping off. I have not attempted second roll opening yet but wanted to put out a warning that it seems like the mint really rushed on this particular product. They did a terrible job.

be forewarned!

Probably :( I will of course give it another try mid month and see what everyone has available. The royal bank here is the main supplier of mint rolls and such and they told me they get one delivery per month. this month they were completely out by the 3rd of the month. Seems like there are quite a few more collectors in my neighborhood than I thought.

Malissadawn,

All the Olympic coins I have encountered in bank rolls were in nice uncirculated condition. I guess you got a batch made on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning.

You can try other RBC branches other than your own, instead waiting till next month. I find they are all very helpful. I rotate through many RBC branches for my roll hunting activities.

hi 1945v,

I did call around once my branch was cleaned out but everywhere I called was running on empty. Beginning of the year releases always seem to work out that way for me. I will try again in a few weeks and maybe I will get lucky.

I go to the RBC head office at Bay & Wellington in downtown Toronto and they always hve olympic rolls. I went down two weeks ago and they hadn't received the speed skating quarters yet, but still had rolls of cross country skiing coins.

What I'm having a hard time finding are non-olympic 2009 rolls.
