Help ID This Old Coin With A Laurel Wreath Please. Probably A Coin. (Id: Button)

No clue at all what this is! My family and I went to the shipwreck museum in St Augustine and found this playing with the metal detector in their sandbox. We were allowed to keep it but the owner wasn't there to ask what it is he planted.

It only has a design visible on one side. Looks like a laurel wreath and maybe some writing. Could be copper or bronze?

I have spent a good amount of time trying to Id it.

If you have any ideas is live to hear it! My 3yo daughter is proud that she "found" it.

What you have there is a corroded flat button. The wreath is part of the backmark on the button and the bump in the middle is where a soldered on shank once was. Dates early to mid 1800s .
Buttons can be just as interesting as coins but unfortunately in this case it is just a conversation piece.
