Hi there Ladies and Gents. I inherited my pop's collection which is about 500 lbs of mostly pennies mostly acquired in the 70s. Lots of old stuff in good condition. Anyone local who would be willing to let me pick their brain? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.
With this forum, everyone is "local". Ask your questions in the "Modern" forum since most of yours are cents. Are they in rolls, bags, boxes, or tubes?
Try to keep each thread/post about one coin or type of coin at a time. Multiple coins in the same thread is a recipe for confusion. Please post a clear image of the obverse and reverse as well as any areas that might be the focus of any question.
Have fun and we all try to help new members feel welcome.

Five hundred pounds--that's a good place to start.

A penny weighs two and a half grams, and there are roughly 453 grams in a pound - so 500 pounds of pennies is, like, $900. How did you transport such a load? Was it broken up in several containers, or is it just one huge water bottle?

Thanks guys.
Theyre in coffee cans and bank bags in big heavy duty tubs.
I can pick up 100 lbs without much of a struggle, so that's how I went about the count. Lots of struggling when moving them.. Ha.
