Wossip,

I am hoping you are still a part of this community.

I am a coin collector located in Michigan. I do enjoy going through the miscellaneous foreign coin box at my dealer. He is not focused on items from outside the US unless they are denominated silver or gold. The search box is set up to get you to come by for conversation and connections. I picked up some late 1800 Canada 1 cents.

I happen to like Canadian items especially in the mid 19th century, so as you probably guessed - I happened to find what appears to me the same coin that you have described, and defended in this upload.

I did ask in the Windsor coin community and basically was told that the reverse of the wreath was ground off. Even with a good magnification I could not find visual evidence of grinding and polishing. The penny is well struck and detailed.

I did have two questions to ask; 1. Is your coin's planchet thinner (by almost half) than a typical cent of this era. 2. What is the weight ?

If you still have your coin, I will go ahead and do a nice photo of mine, measure the thickness and weight. I would enjoy comparing them.

Thanks

Mountain357

I think that it was buffed/polished off for a love token or advertising token name... it didn't leave the mint that way.
