This looks like a Chinese cash coin but I've never seen one this large or one with a blank side (reverse). It has what looks like grinder marks across the obverse. I was told the characters are Chinese and mean something along the lines of "East King Reward Money". No idea if that's accurate. I'm leaning toward it being a fake or fantasy piece. Diameter is 47 mm, thickness is about 2.5 mm, & weight is 27.33 grams. Hoping someone can help with identification.

I'm pretty sure it's a fake of Chinese rebel Zhang Xianzhong's coins. They were produced around 1644 when he declared himself King of the West. You could compare the image of it to some images online, and the text would be visibly thicker than the text you have on the coin.

I'd concur with SdKfz's identification. See this zeno.ru page of replicas. There are no genuine coins with the "Xi Wang Shang Gong" legend listed on zeno.ru; they are apparently quite rare. "Xi Wang Shang Gong" (rotate the coin 90 degrees clockwise, then read the characters in the order top-bottom-right-left) literally means "west king award achievement", but perhaps more poetically as "Prize Medal of the King of the West".

I'd also want to wonder about the grinder or sandpaper lines; it makes the "sand" look like it was applied with a paintbrush. For an alleged "prize medal", it seems to have been very poorly made.

Have to admit this one prized very high among many, and difficult to differentiate authentic to fakes sometime. But for this one isn't hard to spot.
