1999 P Susan B Anthony Dollar Mint Error - Partial Collar/Broadstrike

It has a clear tilted partial collar with reeding that goes pretty much halfway around the coin. Wasn't sure at all how this would be labeled so I asked Mike Diamond for clarification. He notes: "It certainly does show a tilted partial collar that dipped below the plane of the anvil die face at one pole. There's no consensus on whether to call such an error a partial collar error, an uncentered broadstrike, or (as I prefer) a partial collar/broadstrike. The "reeding scars" near GOD are the result of collar clash." So there you have it, and I also like partial collar/broadstrike so running with that. I'm confused and curious about this part. Why does this look like a collar clash from a reeded coin (ie: Kennedy half or quarter)? The collar for the SBA dollar isn't reeded is it? As a Lincoln specialist, I have lately been struggling to understand collar clash and how it shows on struck coins so not an area I can lead on at all. I used the made up term "reeding scars" when I sent images to Mike and that may not have been a great way to describe it confusing the issue from the start. They are incuse and look like reeding so that's the term I came up with. Report this Post to the Staff

Yes, this coin has a reeded edge as it is very clearly visible where the tilted partial collar shows and even photographed it for this posting.
