Glad to find this place through Internet.
I am from China and I like collecting world coins since I was a 10-year old boy.

Next week I will go to New York and Los Angeles for a business trip.
I really want to buy some USA coins and books, especially the State Quarters and standard catalogue of world coins.

But I do not know where can I find the stores because I am not familiar with this 2 cities. So I really hope that I can get some help here.

I want to know where is the suitable stores. I want to buy normal USA coins such as State Quarters, comemorative nickels, PROOF SET of USA coins or just mint set, not expensive and rare silver or gold coins. Hope the stores will be close to me and their price is low.

In New York I will stay in Hotel of Chinese Embassary, which is located at the corner of 42nd street and 12th avenue.

In Los Angeles I will stay in Wilshire Grand Hotel, the address is: 930 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90017

Thanks.

While I am NOT familiar with either city I can advise you to look in the phone book yellow pages for coins shops. That should give you locations and phone numbers of the shops in both cities. Also I am sure the management of both hotels will be able to assist you with such information. Good luck on your hunt and enjoy your stay in the U.S. Glad to have you on the forum and look forward to seeing you here often.

I posted this response to your post in the Welcome section also.

I'm not familiar with coin shops in New York but I did a Google search for coin shops in New York City and here is the result:

Hope this helps.

I have been to LA several times and NYC once.

I don't have specifics, but I know there are numerous coin stores in both cities.

Welcome to the forum, and I hope you find it useful, and will post information regarding coinage you are familiar with.

Alternatively, you can trade with members here if you like, via mail... many are willing and able to do so! The State Quarters and commemorative nickels are easy to find in great condition in change, and I'd bet that almost everyone has some laying around. There is actually a specific forum for this on the site.

Once you hit 50 posts. **Which is the amount you must have to buy/sell/trade**. As neuron said, there are many State Quarters floating around. So contact me or any of the members. I have found them *VERY* helpful!
