Incuse is the opposite of raised. Incuse means that it is sunken or pressed into the coin. Report this Post to the Staff

merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 02/07/2023 04:13 am Lots of glare and brightness your your very shiny coin is making observation of the reverse difficult. Try using sunlight or defuse your lighting source by placing a piece of white paper between your coin and your light. Coin photography is difficult to master, but through trial and error, it'll come. Most people here use their phone's built in cameras, so fancy equipment isn't needed, only patience is required. Bonne chance! Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/07/2023 12:52 pm It happens if the die is over polished: Even proof coins can show that. Note on the last image? Can you see the flat field doubling on the fields? Being a proof coin, the first strike had Machine Doubling. The second strike flattened the first strike Machine Doubling and now it is a shadow on the field. Thus the term: "Flat Field Doubling." Even the second strike showed the Machine Doubling.
