I've developed an opinion that NGC has lax grading standards for Canadian coins, as well as other British crown countries. I could have used other comparisons. Here's a NGC vs ICCS example, coming from http://www.saskatooncoinclub.ca/art...ns-ver2.html

They are 2 separate coins. I don't see a problem, looking at the crown jewels and band. Now the initial strike may not have been the same when looking at the shoulder and cheek, but I usually use the vertical jewels and band.

In general I would agree that NGC and to a certain degree PCGS have lax and/or inconsistent standards for grading F-AU canadian coins, compared to ICCS.

I'm not sure if it due to the more detailed devices on older canadian coins compared to the US coins and they applied the similar standards. Or if it is something else.

But not really seeing an issue with the Saskatoon Coin Club grading guide.

Too many people rely on what the TPG's think the coin grades. Collectors need to learn what current grading standards are and make their own call and ignore what the slab says. I've seen too many coins in slabs with the same grade that are clearly one to two grades off in both directions.

That's true, but the standards are largely visual and defined by the TPGs
