Yes, the Forty Thieves website is rife with counterfeits. For a long time, even mentioning that website on this forum was blocked, because we didn't want to give them the credibility of a hyperlink. But the educational value of linking to known counterfeits outweighs the risk of counterfeit promotion.

I fully support the educative concept of maintaining a 'black' collection
That part of my collection is supported a small specialist library relating to manufacture of fake coins, and their identification.

A have a few coins of reasonably high value in my collection.
On my own initiative, almost all of these have been professionally verified by an independent opinion.
To facilitate the investigation of those particular coins, none of them are, or have been slabbed.

Nevertheless, if you are a new collector, I do in fact, see the value buying coins that are slabbed.

A scourge on this hobby for about fifteen years now, the source of most counterfeit Canadian coins. Respectfully I disagree with Sap and feel counterfeit promotion, intentional or not, outweighs any educational value.

I've noticed many/most of their US coins now have a COPY watermark in their images, as if they're conforming to the Hobby Protection Act, but it's clearly the same defective image of COPY in all the coin images and not physically on the coin. I find that kind of amusing. Why go to the trouble of pretending to conform to a US law with your pretend coins?
